About Me
My name is Sarah Jo, and I am an artist born and raised in the Seattle area. I have been creating for as long as I can remember.
When I was little, my sister and I starting to experiment with traditional art such as painting, drawing, coloring, and working with clay. We quickly took over our parents’ garage with an overwhelming amount of art supplies.
I quickly fell in love with acrylic painting, but I took more art classes in high school to explore my creativity. From painting, to photography, to digital design, and even dancing, I now find that I can’t have just one creative outlet.
In 2023, I decided to pursue a degree in Digital Technology and Culture with an emphasis in Digital Design, as well as an Art Minor at Washington State University – Go Cougs! In my classes I have been given the opportunity to receive invaluable feedback from my classmates and professors. I have learned how to channel my skills into my studies.
Although it was at first challenging to move my traditional art skills into the digital world, I have now created graphics, logos, branding, and social media posts that I am proud to put out into my communities. As I prepare to graduate in December of 2025, I am committed into becoming the best artist I can be.
Awards
Excellence in Graphic Design & Visual Communication My teammates and I received this award for our group project in while taking an Advanced Multimedia Design class. I worked with my three teammates to conceptualize and design a Harm Reduction Campaign. Through designing, our project focused on reducing stigma, desterilizing design, and prioritizing empathy within the concept of Harm Reduction.
Distinguished Scholar Award for Digital Technology and Culture As a senior DTC student focusing on graphic design, I received this award for my work in the program over the last two years. I have grown into the designer and student I am today due to the guidance, inspiration, and support that I have received from my professors, peers, loved ones, and the WSU community.
